Hard to believe but true, June has snuck up on me while I had my back turned... time always feels warped as I juggle multiple deadlines. But this means a summer update is due! The weather is getting wonderfully sunny, and everywhere I look flowers seem to be bursting into bloom. To celebrate the warmer months, I have a new print :) Produced with Risolve Studio as part of their artist series, this limited risograph edition is available now!
We went through three rounds of proofs to get the colors just right, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out! BIG thank you to Lyndsey Burke at Risolve Studio for being just as obsessive about all the details as I am, and registering the layers to perfection. This is no mean feat for a multi-color riso print, but they did a fabulous job. Here’s a look behind the scenes of overlapping layer magic → bubblegum + light lime + turquoise
I also made the centerfold for the the latest edition of L’Etiquette, which came out in May. This is an annual art newspaper produced by Mille Putois in collaboration with Dunham Brewery in Quebec (knowing this, it will come as no surprise that all the art is beer related). The newspaper is curated by Simon Bossé, who thoughtfully suggested a French saying to pair with “Drink like a fish” (“Boit-Sans-Soif” means to drink when not thirsty). I think you can find this around the Montreal area, but it’s also available online for $1 here

Unrelated to project updates, I was in NYC this spring and saw the Beatrix Potter show at the Morgan Library, which was surprisingly good! I’ve seen her work in the past, so I wasn’t expecting anything new, but this exhibition shed more light on her life as a scientist and conservationist in connection to her famous children’s books (a few things I learned: she bought her first farm at age 39, married at 47, was a big fan of the Herdwick sheep, and donated over 4000 acres and 15 farms to the UK National Trust upon her death). Originally organized by the V&A in London, this traveling exhibition closes in a few days… check it out if you are in the area! Below are some photos I took during my visit, and you can read more about the show in this review published in the NYTimes last April, when the exhibition was at the First Art Museum in Nashville.

I also did a lot of people watching in made some quick observational sketchbook doodles while sitting at various spots around the city. These ended up providing inspiration for an editorial project I did recently for the NYorker.
Will share more in the fall!
